by John Constable (1776-1837)
John Constable was born June 11, 1776, in Suffolk,
England. He loved the countryside, and his best work was of outdoor scenes in his native Suffolk and his London home in Hampstead. Constable's work greatly influenced the French artist Delacroix, and the so-called "Barbizon School." In 1829 Constable was awarded full membership in the Royal Academy. He died on March 31, 1837, and was buried in St. John's church, London.
